It is a super secret sneak peek at our newest pattern that is currently in testing! You are going to love this new pattern as much as I do! It truly is a one of a kind top/dress pattern that is stunning with all the details! Meet the Janie Lou. janielou-3 I had the pleasure of drooling over all the gorgeous fabric lines on the Riley Blake website and I couldn't decide on one to sew. I mean how can you narrow it down? So I did what any good mama would do and I asked my daughter to choose. We selected the Woodland Spring line by Dani Mogstad. Sadie fell in love with the sweet animals in the woods. And I thought the mini florals were simply stunning. Add the stripes for a contrast and we had a perfect palette. woodlandcollage2 The Janie Lou pattern features a full twirly skirt for the dress version or an Aline skirt for the tunic version. The animal print called woodland main in aqua would be stunning as the focal point of the dress. I added a mini ruffle to the bottom of the skirt in the floral that is not included in the pattern.   janielou-7 The highlight of this pattern is the chevron inset on the bodice. It is simply stunning and to help the pintucks to stand out I chose to use a solid. This is Riley Blake solid in aqua. They have a huge selection of solids and sometimes we sewers don't use enough solids in our creations! A great match to the woodland line. The pintuck construction is described in full in the pattern and if I can do it anyone can!!! (the pattern as alternative options for the bodice also) janielouchevron The woodland petal in navy (florals) is my favorite. If you look really close you will see sweet mushrooms too! I chose to use this print as the side/back bodice and cuffs. Now let's pay attention to those darling cuffs. Remember I said it was all in the details well these won't disappoint. They are created a little sturdy with the use of interfacing and adding an accent button on the corner really makes them POP! janielou-8 The sleeves and sash are done in the woodland strip in navy. But as you can see there are different degrees of thickness and colors in this print. The sash on this pattern can be done in a regular size or jumbo or simply left off if you prefer! janielou-2 The bodice is fully lined and the back has four fabric loopers to allow for ease of fit and for all of you who don't do buttonholes you are saved!!! I needed a little bit of room for my swimmers broad shoulders so I used toggle buttons and they worked perfectly. janielou-5 A trip to the woods to find our forest friends in our new pretty dress was the highlight of our day! The Janie Lou pattern is one you need to add to your wish list. You will love the unique design and stunning details! A pattern that allows you to try new techniques is a lesson in the love of creating! My girl was so excited at getting to help with fabric placement her first lesson in creating! janielou-6 Many thanks to Riley Blake Designs for sponsoring our Blog Tour and sharing their gorgeous prints with us!
